12 Months & Counting: Capturing The Irwins

This family has changed my world, one session at a time. I first had the opportunity to meet them at their stunning maternity session. We enjoyed one of my favorite spots on island, the lava tube at Eternity Beach.

Then, I was asked to be the newborn photographer after Baby Gage was born. As second time parents, Brad & Shannon had complete comfort in knowing that I could handle the little man and everyone enjoyed themselves. We ended up getting some rain at our original location of Haleiwa Beach Park, so once we nabbed enough shots, we made a rain date. I was THRILLED they wanted to let me shoot a second time. It was at our second location later in the week we struck gold in the form of a Tonka truck.

At the second newborn session, we enjoyed the morning light and the sound of waves to soothe this week babe to sleep. Fort Kamehameha Beach on Hickam was a great place to grab those final shots which the rain had stopped us from nabbing earlier in the week.

At 5 months, I had the honor once again to spend time with sweet baby Gage, big brother Jackson, Brad & Shannon. This family could not have made the morning more fun.

Gage’s 12 month’s session really was something new. It was simple and his smiles lit up my camera as much as it did me. We enjoyed a cake smash session at Lanikai Beach for sunrise.

Before leaving island this incredible family asked me to do their family session. I could not possibly be happier to have been a part of it. Their session was such an inspiration and it takes something unique to really feel that way.

Mahalo to this  family for giving me the opportunity to be there for so many moments in the past year of their lives. I do not take sessions like these for granted and the support never goes unnoticed. I consider each session I am chosen for, a gift. Moreso, when I am asked to be a repeat photographer because I know there are many options out there. This bunch has shown me only the best of both worlds, friendship and business. Bless your family, Irwin’s.

Fitness with Myka

Myka has blown me away with her energy and dedication to fitness since I met her. She is always striving to do more and be more.

She works hard to involve others on her journey and make it their own. In addition to that, Myka finds a way to stay motivated and makes it look effortless.

I have been blessed to call her a friend and a trainer for over a year now. She has pushed me and inspired me. I am certainly and better me just for knowing her. I am so happy she is following her dreams in fitness and blazing the way for those after her.

Mahalo for the opportunity to snap these killer images of you and your abilities at hitting those weights.

Kylie: A Scenic Senior Session

I am so thankful when I have the opportunity to capture a session in a unique area and Alaska did not disappoint. This beautiful senior, a stunning backdrop and soft skies; what more could a photographer ask for?

Her ability to relax and unplug in front of the camera was incredible. She really was taking in the views and all that the area had to offer, which only added to the session.

Her dynamic personality added some spunk to each shot.

Her pride in her country was evident. She was set on taking a few shots with the American flag and I could not have been more excited about the outcome of those shots.

Best of luck, Kylie as your life moves forward. I pray you are able to move onward and upward in this crazy world with your ideas stated aloud and your head held high.

Maternity Milk Bath Boudoir

Ever wondered what it would be like to relax and lay around while having your images taken? Would you like to feel like you had a day at the spa? Try a milk bath session! I especially love this option when it comes to maternity sessions. It incorporates a little symbolism of that moment in a mama’s life and has just enough sensual flair to it to create a perfectly romantic, emotional look.

Anthony + Esme: The Perfection of Pregnancy

This couple could not have brought the heat any more than they did.

The love in their eyes for one another, their body chemistry, that sunset over the ancient lava rock, the sound of the waves crashing against the walls and that STUNNING baby belly all worked together like a puzzle of perfection. The perfection of pregnancy.

Rose Family: Party of Four

I always ensure that sessions are unique. The way each one is styled, the location and the couple makes a session their very own. Adding in the element of excitement which comes from a gender reveal session makes those sessions stand apart from the rest. The best part of it all? I can’t control the emotions, just capture them.

The Rose family gender reveal was no exception.

They handed me two colors of leis; two blue and two pink. Silently, I read which gender the doctor had written on a note and ensured their eyes were closed. I then handed them the blue leis. They each had fun placing the leis on one another. Making them do this with their eyes closed made it a little more interesting but also allowed me to capture the best of smiles. The excitement which followed gave the camera a show.

This couple already has made a wonderful family of three, I can only imagine the happiness which will come from the Rose family, party of four.

I wish this family all the best in the last weeks before they meet little brother.

Robert + Stephanie: Taking The Leap Of Faith

This couple provided me with a session idea that was like no other. Although I had photographed jumps into the Pacific before, none had the symbolism and energy like this one.

Robert & Stephanie are set to be wed in 2018. They moved to Oahu due to military orders and wanted to do something out of the ordinary and “off the wall”, one might say, for their “Save The Dates”. Thus, a “Leap of Faith” session was born.

To pull off this amazing shoot idea as best as I could, I suggested that we enjoy two of Oahu’s most notorious cliff jumping spots in Hawaii Kai. Hawaii Kai has some of the most relaxed sunset locations and also the best Pacific cliffs at Sunset.  We chose to snap some images free of the abundance of people at Spitting Caves of Portlock. That location also provided some foliage, coverage from the afternoon sun and areas to walk without fear of hitting slick rock. Then, we drove over to China Walls to enjoy the jump. Each were only moments from one another and had a similar stunning view.

Embarking on their new adventure hand-in-hand, Robert & Stephanie leaped in-sync toes first into the Pacific with nothing but pure faith.

Best wishes to you both as you continue creating your Lifesong together. Mahalo for the opportunity to be your #Storyteller.

John Max: A Year Of Memories

When I started Lifesong, my hope was to not only witness milestones, but capture them. I didn’t know how this would feel until the Bulow’s entered my life. It all started with a maternity session on South Shore.

Then, since John Max’s birth, I was asked to be there for each milestone.

At six months, we spent some time at Hickam Beach, for a very nice sunset. He was able to sit with a little assistance but was happiest in mommy and daddy’s arms. His smile light up the evening sky.

At nine months we took John Max to the Ford Island fields, where he adventured on his hands and knees. He stood briefly to show off his handsome eyes to the camera. The day was hot but he was a trooper!

Then, for his twelve month session, we let him roam free amongst the coffee trees on North Shore. Even though he was up before the dawn, his signature smile was in full effect. His fast feet and expressions made for a wonderful early-morning session!

After being there for all these milestones, I am sad to now be saying “Aloha” to this family. The support they showed my small business and the love in which they spoke about my art will never be forgotten. Mahalo Bulow’s. Best wishes and A Hui Hou!

Danielle & Little Charlotte: A Mama & Me Session

This session was at one of my favorite locations on island. Tucked away and almost completely out of sight is a path which leads down to the water. Down to a place of excitement, relaxation and curiosity. A place which let’s a little girl’s mind wander while at the hand of her mother.

THIS is what made Eternity Beach the perfect location for Danielle and Charlotte’s mama & me beach session.

Capturing moments like a mother’s tender touch or the twinkle in a child’s eyes when she sees something new is what makes my job so incredible. Time with these two was just that–magical!
